Saudi Arabia, Egypt Demand Immediate Halt to Gaza Conflict
(MENAFN) On Monday, Saudi Arabia and Egypt jointly demanded an instant cessation of Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza.
The two nations emphasized the necessity for intensified global intervention to enforce a truce and guarantee the unobstructed flow of relief supplies into the besieged enclave.
During an urgent ministerial summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jeddah, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan called upon the global community to swiftly intervene in halting what he described as Israeli transgressions, and to facilitate the prompt entry of humanitarian relief into Gaza.
“It is necessary to deliver all essential assistance and support to the people of Gaza,” he stated, underscoring that Israeli actions represent “the greatest threat to security and peace in the region.”
Prince Faisal also denounced Israel’s ongoing expansion of settlements within occupied Palestinian lands and welcomed the broadening international backing of a two-state resolution.
He reaffirmed the Palestinian people's entitlement to form a sovereign state.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty pressed the international community to exert influence on Israel to agree to a US-endorsed proposal for Gaza, which has already received approval from Hamas.
This proposal outlines a 60-day truce and unrestricted humanitarian relief access.
Speaking to OIC delegates, Abdelatty highlighted that more than 5,000 aid vehicles are stranded on the Egyptian side of the border due to Israeli limitations.
He cautioned that the Gaza Strip requires no fewer than 700 trucks per day to cover the fundamental needs of its 2.4 million residents.
