Saudi Arabia Partners with UN to Enhance Cybersecurity Capacity
This urgent program addresses a critical shortage of 2.8 million cybersecurity professionals worldwide, with 43 percent of information security leaders reporting significant skills gaps, according to the GCF 2024 Cybersecurity Workforce Report.
The initiative will deliver expert-led workshops, comprehensive training, international cyber simulations and drills, policy advisory support, and collaborative research. It aims to enhance competencies across policymaking, law enforcement, and cyber diplomacy sectors.
Leadership for this effort will come from Saudi Arabia’s National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA), the Saudi Information Technology Company, and the GCF, working alongside multiple UN agencies.
"Saudi Arabia's partnership with the United Nations to advance global cybersecurity capacity building is a testament to a shared commitment to driving progress for the benefit of people, societies, and nations," said Majed bin Mohammed Al-Mazyed, governor of the NCA, at the forum.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, speaking via video, emphasized the critical role of cyberspace: "We must act together to ensure cyberspace serves the common good by investing in people, building skills and fostering inclusion." He warned that vulnerabilities in digital spaces could disrupt societies and threaten peace.
Now in its fifth year, the GCF Annual Meeting remains a pivotal international venue fostering cooperation and resilience in global cyberspace security through actionable dialogue and initiatives.
