Yemen Denounces Houthi Attacks on Saudi Cities
In a statement, Yemen's Foreign Ministry said the attacks struck civilian areas in Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif on Monday, injuring 13 civilians and causing damage to residential properties and vehicles.
The ministry described the strikes as a “blatant violation” of Saudi sovereignty and warned that they pose a threat to the kingdom's security and stability. It accused the Houthis of intentionally attacking civilians and attempting to contribute to a wider regional escalation.
Yemen's government reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia and recognized the kingdom's right to take necessary measures to safeguard its citizens, residents, territory and infrastructure in accordance with international law.
The ministry also rejected the use of Yemeni territory as a platform for launching attacks against neighboring states. It urged the international community to adopt a firm position against Houthi attacks, restrict the group's access to weapons and financial resources, and assist the Yemeni government in restoring state institutions.
Earlier Tuesday, the Saudi-led coalition said Houthi ballistic missiles and drones had targeted Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif in southwestern Saudi Arabia on Monday. It reported that 13 civilians sustained minor to moderate injuries, while seven homes and two vehicles were damaged.
